Music Ministry Director
Karen Hepler is excited to join Centennial Lutheran as its new Music Director. A Master’s graduate of Northwestern University, Karen studied piano, voice, and, later, organ. She loves working with choirs, soloists, and instrumentalists in all seasons of the church year, especially our next season, Advent/ Christmas. One of the most rewarding parts of a music director’s job is discovering parishioners with beautiful voices who don’t know what wonderful gifts they have. An accompanist and vocal coach at heart, Karen cherishes the many choir members and singers she has worked with. It is a privilege to join the team of a church with such lovely and welcoming people.
When not playing in church or working with choirs, Karen has eclectic interests and a zany sense of humor. She is an assistant teacher in a respected school district, a WWII and Civil War history nut, and loves documentaries on the Smithsonian Channel. An avid fan of golf and cycling, Karen follows the PGA, the Tour de France, and the Olympics. Besides music, her greatest love is animals – wildlife and domestic. She has done considerable cat rescue in her community, and continues to advocate whenever possible. Karen lives in North Wales/ Montgomery Township with her two cats (ie, children), Rusty and Yoda.
